How we give back to the community

As a people first business, we believe in giving back to the Society in which we operate both professional and personally. Here you can find details of the various initiatives we have supported before and are currently supporting.

We support inclusive Rugby!

We extremely proud to support the Coventry Corsairs inclusive Rugby Club, and specifically their player Lucas Upton. We have followed Lucas’ journey since he first started and he’s become a brilliant team player and a credit to the team.

Scott supports various inclusive rugby teams personally, and wanted to support Lucas specifically as he is also a fellow Data Protection professional (focusing in HR).

Sponsoring Lucas for the coming season allows the team to ensure there are enough funds for things like kit, water, training sessions etc.

Sport should be for all, so we are proud to be doing our bit to enhance the brilliant world of inclusive ruby.

We support new professionals!

Founded in 2010 by Alison North and the IRMS, this award is aimed at celebrating some of the diverse and brilliant talent that we have coming into the industry.

Alison has always been a firm supporter of new talent and was the patron of the award until 2024, passing the baton to Scott Sammons after her retirement. Scott is himself a previous NPA winner and previous Chair of the Society - an example that NPA winners can go on to do anything!

So whether you are a student studying something information-related, or you are within three years of starting in the profession, take a look and see if the NPA can boost your learning and your career!

Lighthouse IG and Scott are both proud to be patrons and official supporters of the award. Its our way of supporting the profession and giving back for future generations.

We give back to local charities!

Each year we also explore supporting a local charity to us in Essex. In previous years we have supported the following charitable causes:

CHESS: CHESS is a homelessness charity that works with those in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas that find themselves living on the streets. It provides support, food, shelter and awareness on the various issues that cause homelessness.

The Outhouse: Outhouse is an LGBT support charity based in Colchester. It works with various people across the LGBT community to offer support, counselling, signposting to resources and community events. It also offers equality training to local employers.

Kids Inspire: Through Vision Offices we have also supported Kids Inspire, a kids support charity based in Chelmsford. Kids Inspire provides care to children with specific medical and/or behavioral needs.
